The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has approved the posting of DCP Tunji Disu as the new Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
The posting of the officer is on the heels of Management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery.
Recalled that the Police Service Commission on Saturday Suspended DCP ABBA Kyari, the elsewhile commander of the IRT over his Indictment on account of the over one dollars scam Committed by the internet fraud star, Rahman Abba (aka Hushpuppi).
To reposition the Intelligence Unit of the Force, the IGP charged the new Head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional competence in his leadership of the Unit.
The IGP in a statement signed by the Force Image Maker, DCP Frank Mba assured Nigerians that the IRT will remain focused in the discharge of its duties in line with national statutes and international best practices.
Prior to his appointment as the new Head of the IRT, DCP Tunji Disu was a Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos State, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
DCP Disu had also served at the State CID, Rivers State as the Deputy Head of the Unit and was also a former Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Dafur, Sudan and several professional assignment both within and outside Nigeria.
DCP Disu posting according to the statement is with immediate effect.
